ABOUT ME

I am just a guy with too many hobbies. This is a collection of some of the things I have done. I am a nurse in my real life. But that is just boring and nobody wants to hear about that. I have also been a graphic designer and an art director. I have had experience with web and print media.

I went to Chico State and got my creative degrees there. Was in the design industry in San Diego and Boise. Needed a change after getting burned out on dealing with clients and their expert advise, that never worked.

I went to Boise State and became a critical care nurse. bla bla 6 years in ICU, bla bla. Now I work in a cardiac procedural area.

What you really want to know - I stared painting and drawing again after I got out of the graphic design industry. I found my passion for creativity again. But painting was not enough. I started to experiment with other outlets. Which led me to woodworking. Something I have dabbled in a couple times in my life. But what do you know? This time it stuck, and I am learning as I go. So by no means do I know what I am doing.

WHY BOURBON SAWDUST?

I chose Bourbon Sawdust for a couple reasons. It sounds pretty good. The domain was available. Kind of makes a cool logo. Could be used many ways. But the truth is.. Well when I started woodworking it led to making some gifts for friends. The first couple things that I made that were actually good enough to give away were, whiskey boxes. I like bourbon and such, so it made a perfect gift to give friends and loved ones, and they usually share what was given. Win/win. Then I started making other stuff. When I wanted to start showing the work online I had to get a name. I don’t like branding my own name. Kind of private and weird like that. So I started thinking things through and after a couple really bad names, and even worse logos to match. It was decided that Bourbon Sawdust was the best choice. It kind of tells where it all got started and what I really make. A big mess and a lot of sawdust. So enjoy the adventure and check back often to see the new pictures of what I have made today.
